Voter advocacy

In Texas, you must register to vote at least 30 days before an election, and you must register by mailing in a signed form, in person at your county tax office, or in-person with a volunteer deputy registrar (VDR).

I became a VDR in 2017, and have since registered over 300 people in Travis County, joining the exclusive Travis County Tax Office 100+ club for election cycles in a row. In 2019 I held over 35 voter registration drives. Before SXSW 2020 was canceled due to Coronavirus, I was working with a team to host over 70 voter registration drives over the two week SXSW festival period. I am incredibly passionate about voter education, registration and get out the vote efforts.

Someone once asked me, “what is first question you ask on a date?” and my response was:

  1. are you registered to vote?

  2. what’s your favorite kind of pie?

Gotta have priorities.
